Great questions, Nancy!! I had such fun writing the Tybee setting. I actually rented an apartment on the island last Sept/Oct and my family and I went back and forth. I wrote a LOT of RED KISS down there...and we actually did that kayak trip from the mainland out to Little Tybee, the trip that Emma makes at the beginning of RED KISS. I really DID hit a Bull Shark with my paddle (she mentions that at some point.) I think my favorite element of Tybee is the long marsh drive out there, which lasts for miles and is so beautiful. I also love the history there--there's an old fort on the island and there's officers row, where there are Victorian era homes there on a beach island. Love that unusual combo! And there are buildings like Officers Mess Hall, that kind of thing! And the fort is still there, and you can tour it...can also go up in the light house and to the very top! In fact, wonder if I could upload a picture of that view. Let me see... gonna post this first!
